It has already been a week. I can’t believe it. It is going so fast. Too fast.
We started in Rusk on Monday. We spent 2 nights there and it was super cold. It sleeted and there was ice everywhere. It was really pretty! We spent a lot of time just sitting and talking with Lucas’ parents and sister, Madi. I did a Jillian Michaels workout dvd with them and we ate dinner with his Bammaw. Both days we ate at their BBQ place. It was all really sweet. And just perfect. Saying bye was way too hard.
Next stop was Katy. We had to take Sarah to her annual vet visit. Sarah did great! She had a heart condition as a puppy and we were told that she wouldnt live to be older than 4. Well, her heart condition has officially been reduced and she will live and happy and healthy and long life! We stayed with my mom and she took as to dinner and then my stepdad came over with some cheesecake! There were lots of goodies and made us feel quite loved.
Then the hard part came. Lucas had to say bye to his puppy. He loves Sarah so very much and will miss her. But he will see her soon.
And then we hit I-10. A quick lunch with more family and onto New Orleans we went!
We got to NOLA around 7. Found the hotel in Downtown and freshened up for some exploring. We ate dinner at the ACME Oyster House and ummm, hi. I love cajun food.. in New Orleans. Zatarans doesnt quite cut it anymore. Some gumbo and Jumbolaya were just what we needed. We were able to sit at the bar and watched all the oysters get shelled. It was a lot of fun! Then we went down Bourban St. Grabbed a hurrican at Pat O’Brians and made our way back to the hotel.
This morning we woke up early and walked around the French Quarter a while. All I have to say is.. Cafe du Monde. Holy cow. Delish!
They are gearing up for Mardi Gras! It was really fun to go not during that though. The decorations are out and the people are fun, but there werent too many crowds or lines. We walked right in and sat down at Cafe du Monde. I wasnt quite expecting that.
The area is beautiful. I love all the buildings and design. The people are friendly and we found a jazz band. The hotel had wood floors and exposed beams.
I loved it all.
We are in Columbus, MS right now. We will be here until Sunday morning and then we go out some more. I am excited for the adventures that await us in Tennesse!
